Self-Guided Tutorials

For Courses in the Writing Sequence

These tutorials work well with Chrome and Edge, less well with Firefox. They can be completed on a smartphone, but require switching back and forth between instruction and database or video screens.

WR115 Self Guided
A series of brief, introductory videos and a quiz that will allow a student to print or download a graded certificate which they can submit to prove that they have completed the tutorial.
WR121 Self Guided
A two-part, interactive tutorial. Part A introduces the Primo Library search and database searching, along with a brief video on popular and scholarly sources. Part B is an interactive tutorial on evaluation of sources. Each part has a separate quiz and graded certificate.
WR122 Self Guided
Includes an interactive exercise (on how a strong source can lead to additional material), two short videos, and a brief quiz. The student will be able to print or download a graded certificate to show that they have completed the tutorial.
WR227 Self Guided
Includes exercises on how a strong source can lead to additional material and on finding technical reports. Includes a brief quiz. The student will be able to print or download a graded certificate to show that they have completed the tutorial.

Boolean Searching Self Guided
Includes a brief, interactive tutorial on Boolean Searching in library databases, and a brief quiz so you can test your knowledge. The user can download a graded certificate of completion.
CINAHL Self Guided
Interactive tutorial on using the Cumulated Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, stressing the most useful features for the Nursing program. Includes a quiz that will allow a student to print or download a graded certificate which they can submit to show that they have completed the tutorial.
How to Use Medline via PubMed
Due to changes in Medline, this tutorial has been suspended currently. This tutorial will introduce searching in Medline via PubMed, the use of various filters to focus your search, finding the text of the articles, and the use of the Medical Subject Headings.

A brief, interactive tutorial that will introduce the uses of special encyclopedias and how to find them; there is short self-test so you can check your knowledge; you will be able to download a certificate of completion if desired.
Using the Primo Library Search (Self-Guided)
Introduces the basics of Primo. Includes a quiz that will allow a student to print or download a graded certificate which they can submit to their instructor to show that they have completed the tutorial.
