Frequently Asked Questions about Accessing Public Library Resources with Chemeketa ID

Q: Do the public libraries in Chemeketa Cooperative Regional Library Service use the same online system as Chemeketa Community College?

No. The CCRLS public libraries use a different system for their catalog. You can see and request public items, however, by changing "Primo Search" to "CCRLS Public Libraries" in the dropdown menu on the Primo library search page.

Q: Can I still have items sent from the public library to a Chemeketa campus library?

Yes! Items requested from CCRLS public libraries can be picked up at Chemeketa Salem or Yamhill  campuses, or at Chemeketa's Polk Center. You must be logged into the Primo Library search with your Chemeketa user name and password.

Q: How can students access public library resources?

There are two ways.  By requesting as a Chemeketa student/employee, or by using a CCRLS public library card.

Here's how to do it with Chemeketa credentials:

Click on the Check Holdings link to show more information.

To request, follow the link that says, "CCRLS Bridge Request." You will not see the CCRLS Bridge link unless you are logged in.

This will open another window and display the results of a search in the CCRLS Bridge. If you do not see results, click Simple Search and type in the title of the item again. (See below)

This happens because sometimes the Bridge can't interpret what our Primo search sends. Look for the Simple Search link at the top of the page and do a keyword search for your item.

If a copy of your item is requestable you will see a pulldown menu to select your pickup location. For most items, "volume needed" may be left blank. You can use that space if you are requesting an item with parts, or an issue of a magazine.

Your item will be sent to the library you selected. You can check it out on your student ID.

Q: How will I know when my item arrives?

A: You will receive an e-mail in your My Chemeketa Google mail account.

Q: The item I want is at  "OSL" but  it says "Not Requestable."

A: The Oregon State Library shares a server with CCRLS, but its materials are not directly requestable through the system.  There is a link, however, to an interlibrary loan request form you can fill out.

Q: What about electronic items?

A: Electronic materials in the public libraries do not display in the CCRLS Bridge.  State Library electronic items do, however. Although there's no way to request a loan of an electronic item, you can try using Google or the Oregon.gov web site to find a copy you can access.

Q: How can I get more information about the Public Library system and service?
