chemeketa logoWhat's in the library search?

You’ll find books, DVDs, and so on, but you’ll also find articles from magazines, journals, and newspapers, streaming videos, electronic images, and more. You can expand your search to include items the library doesn’t have, and you can request items from the Summit libraries (39 college and university libraries in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho).

You can reach the Primo Library Search directly at

Do I have to log in to search?

Although you can opt to search as a guest without logging in, you won’t see the full range of options that are available to you, such as Summit requesting, unless you log in as a Chemeketa user.

What is my login?

Your login is your My Chemeketa/Single Sign-On username and password.

How can I check to see if my instructor has put textbooks or other materials on reserve?

Pull down the menu marked Library Resources the search box & choose Course Reserves. Searching by course number (e.g., ART201), works best.

Where's the table of contents and other descriptive information in the results?

Can I limit my search to just DVDs (or books, articles, etc.)?

After searching, choose your preferred Resource Type under Refine My Results in the column next to the results. Only the first five resource types show; click Show more to see the complete set.

How can I limit my search to printed books in Chemeketa's library?

Under Availability, click on CHEMEKETA onsite collection.

I'm off campus. How can I limit my search to online materials?

Can I turn off or change my limits?

Any limits you choose will appear at the top of the Refine Results area in a bar marked "Active Filters". Click the "x" next to a limit to turn it off.

Can I find articles that Chemeketa doesn't have in my search?

Yes. In the column of controls to the left of your results there is a check-off option marked "Include results with additional delivery time."

Can I check my account and renew books online?

Yes. Log in at the top of the search page and click on My Account.

How do I check out Chemeketa materials?

Your Chemeketa Student ID card allows item checkouts from the Salem or Yamhill campuses.

How do I request books from other libraries?

See the "Summit" box in the Find Books and More tab of this guide. If Summit does not have the item, use the interlibrary loan request form instead.

Frequently Asked Questions about Accessing Public Library Resources with a Public Card

Can I Use a CCRLS public library card at Chemeketa?

  • Have a CCRLS public library card? Great!  You can use this card to check out and request public library items.
  • Don’t have one? Go to your local CCRLS public library (within Marion, Polk or Yamhill counties) with proof of residency (utility bill, electric bill, etc.) to apply for one.
  • Live outside of the city limits? Take your Chemeketa Student ID and proof of class registration (for example, a schedule printed out from My Chemeketa) to your local CCRLS public library to receive a 25 item access library card. This card must be renewed every term.

Request in the CCRLS Public Libraries using a public card either by searching directly in the CCRLS Catalog.  When you find the item you want, click the Place Hold button and enter your public library card barcode number and PIN.

You will be given a menu to select your preferred delivery location. Select CCC for Salem campus, or YVC for Yamhill Valley Campus.

Q: How can students access public library resources?

There are two ways.  By requesting as a Chemeketa student/employee, or by using a CCRLS public library card.

With Chemeketa credentials:

Click on the Check Holdings link to show more information.

To request, follow the link that says, "CCRLS Bridge Request." You will not see the CCRLS Bridge link unless you are logged in.

This will open another window and display the results of a search in the CCRLS Bridge. If you do not see results, click Simple Search and type in the title of the item again. (See below)

This happens because sometimes the Bridge can't interpret what our Primo search sends. Look for the Simple Search link at the top of the page and do a keyword search for your item.

Click on the desired title in the CCRLS Bridge results to see full information about the item and requestability.

This will open a new page.

If a copy of your item is requestable you will see a pulldown menu to select your pickup location. For most items, "volume needed" may be left blank. You can use that space if you are requesting an item with parts, or an issue of a magazine.

Your item will be sent to the library you selected. You can check it out on your ID card.

Q: How will I know when my item arrives?

A: You will receive an e-mail in your My Chemeketa Google mail account.

Q: The item I want is at  "OSL" but  it says "Not Requestable."

A: The Oregon State Library shares a server with CCRLS, but its materials are not directly requestable through the system.  There is a link, however, to an interlibrary loan request form you can fill out.

Q: What about electronic items?

A: Electronic materials in the public libraries do not display in the CCRLS Bridge.  State Library electronic items do, however. Although there's no way to request a loan of an electronic item, you can try using Google or the web site to find a copy you can access.

Q: How can I get more information about the Public Library system and service?

For more information about CCRLS libraries visit: About CCRLS.
