Article Databases

All the electronic databases listed in this section may be accessed by going to the library's Database Page. If you are using databases from off campus, you will need your My Chemeketa user name and password.

TIP: When using keywords, try truncating: theor* finds theory, theories, theoretical, etc. (* is the truncation character for Gale).

  • Academic OneFile
    Articles from thousands of magazines, newspapers, and peer-reviewed journals. Includes the New York Times newspaper as far back as 1985.
    How to Use
  • Gale in Context: Environmental Studies
    Articles, ebooks, and media on environmental issues including pollution, sustainablity, conservation and green technology.
  • JSTOR
    Includes Artstor images. JSTOR is an article archive. It does not include current articles. The collection includes Open Access, and Archival & Primary Source collections.
  • National Geographic
    Current issues and archive of National Geographic magazine. Includes image and advertisement searching. Coverage: 1888 - present.
  • ProQuest Central
    Includes articles in academic journals, newspapers, and general interest magazines. Click on Databases (4) to select specific databases or subject areas to search within.

    Scholarly journal articles from the health, life, social, and behavioral sciences.

Reference Book Databases

  • Gale eBooks
    Subject encyclopedias, dictionaries, and other ebooks on a wide variety of topics. Useful for background information and topic exploration.
  • Salem Press Online
    Reference books on topics related to mythology/folklore, history, science, and health.

Video Databases

  • Academic Video Online
    Instructional videos, documentaries, performances, and news stories including PBS Frontline.
  • Films On Demand: Master Academic and Career & Technical Education Package
    Educational films and documentaries on a wide variety of subjects. Please note: content produced by HBO, A&E, and BBC may not play in older browsers if the video is embedded in eLearn or other websites. If you get an error try a different browser. If the error persists, find and view the video within Films on Demand.
  • PBS Video Collection
    Public Broadcasting Service series including NOVA, Nature, American Experience, and Frontline.
