"Serious-Popular" sources include newspaper articles, magazine articles, and webpages that are written by professional writers/journalists who gather information from credible sources, confirm the validity of the information, and present the information objectively. Not all newspapers and magazine articles or webpages meet this criteria (for example, tabloids are generally not objective or reliable).
For a full description of “Serious-Popular” please refer to The Humble Argument and The Humble Essay chapters on types of evidence. “Serious-popular” is not as widely used as source descriptions like “peer reviewed” or “scholarly” so someone who is not familiar with the Humble books may not be familiar with that terminology. The Humble textbooks are often used in the Chemeketa writing sequence and copies may be available to borrow from the library.
