Research for eLearning Students

A guide for students that gives tips for doing research, obtaining materials, and getting help in the online environment

Obtaining Materials

You must log into the Primo Library Search in order to see request links. If Chemeketa's Yamhill Campus Library in McMinnville, OR, Polk Center in Dallas, or the Woodburn Public Library is convenient for you, you can use the Request links in the Library Search to have an item sent to Yamhill, Polk, or Woodburn. You must sign into the search with your My Chemeketa/Single Sign-On credentials to see the Request button. You can also use the CCRLS Bridge to have materials sent to local public libraries.

If you live in a place that is near any  library in the Orbis Cascade Alliance (Summit), you can become a visiting patron at that library and request items be sent there from Chemeketa or any other Summit library. To be adopted by a Summit library, go to that library with a photo ID (University, College, or State Issued) , and be prepared to sign into your account on the Chemeketa Primo Library Search. Your login name and password are the same as for My Chemeketa. When the staff at the library have verified that you are a  qualified student, they will issue you a credential you can use to request and to check out materials.

When you look for books or other items in that library's search, log in with your visiting patron credentials to see Request Summit item links in the Get it section of a library record.

The Summit Plus / Rapido System

Chemeketa Community College Library uses a system called Rapido (formerly Summit Plus) to request items. Primo will display tiles with offers that tell you what you can request and how soon you can receive it. Both physical and digital requests are possible. The service is free.

  • Articles are delivered electronically
  • Books or other physical items are delivered to the library for pickup
  • When the item arrives, you will receive an email in your college email account

Certain items cannot be requested:

  • Physical items available on the shelf at a Chemeketa location (see Local requesting for this)
  • Electronic items that are available in full text at Chemeketa

Who can request:

  • Chemeketa students and employees
  • Visiting Summit patrons can use their Chemeketa credential to request Summit items

Good News!

Remember, a large proportion of Chemeketa's Collection is electronic, and accessible from your home or another location. You can filter by Full Text Online in the Chemeketa Primo library search results, or use one of our databases to find over a hundred thousand e-books, millions of articles, or a range of streaming videos.

Use your My Chemeketa User Name and password if asked for a login.
