Medline is a very large database of peer-reviewed articles in medical journals. It has powerful search features, including the MeSH subject headings. The video on this page gives you instructions for using the MeSH browser to do a search in Medline.
When you do a search from the MeSH browser, it automatically gives you all the more specific headings under that term ("explodes" the term in library jargon). For example, if you search for "Cardiovascular system," Medline will find articles on the blood-brain barrier, the aorta, the ventricles of the heart, and many other related topics.
Medline lets you filter the results by items at Chemeketa's library.
Tip: | In your list of results you can use Medline's Text Availability and Species features to remove articles that aren't useful. Clicking "Abstract" under Text availability will get rid of editorials and letters to the editor. Clicking "Humans" under Species will remove animal research. |
The video below gives a simple explanation of using the MeSH Subject headings in Medline. Medline is found on the library's database page.
