Chemeketa Reads presents the 2019 Chemeketa Reads Essay contest.
Eligibility
The essay contest is open to all current Chemeketa students
Chemeketa employees are not eligible to participate, with the exception of student workers and student part-time hourly employees who are currently enrolled for at least 6 credit hours.
Students must submit an essay that responds to one of the 2019 official prompts
Only one entry per student
Essays must not contain names or other personal identifiers
All writing materials must be exclusively student-created
Entries become the property of the Chemeketa Reads project at Chemeketa Community College and may be used at events and in publicity materials
Essay must be at least 500 words and no more than 750 words in length (essays that are less than 500 words or more than 750 words will not be considered)
Entries must be submitted on or before the April 30, 2019 deadline using the online form
Winners will be notified prior to May 23, 2019.
Essay Award Ceremony is May 23rd in the Student Center. Save the date!
The author of the winning entry will receive a $500 award, and the top three runners-up will receive $100 each.Other essays may be chosen for Special Recognition, an honor that students may include on resumes and college applications.
We encourage all students to visit the Study Skills Center located in building 2, room 212 and attend one of the writing workshops that will be offered in April. The Tutoring Center, the Writing Center, and the Online Writing Center are all available to assist students with drafting their essay.
