At Chemeketa, a hybrid course is defined as one that replaces classroom seat time with activities that support the course learning objectives and are designed for the online learning environment. Hybrid instruction at Chemeketa integrates online with onsite learning, rather than supplementing or adding to the existing coursework.
An online course is one where content delivery and learner interactions occur entirely on the web. While there may be some optional synchronous web conferencing, learners can complete their courses on their own time as long as they are meeting course deadlines.
If you’re new to technology-enhanced teaching, or are looking to improve your practice, these resources provide a good introduction to hybrid and online learning.
