In order to provide better service, the library, along with the IT department, is changing from a locally-hosted proxy server to a hosted proxy. The proxy server is the way Chemeketa provides off-campus access to library resources.
The change will not be noticeable to most users. As always, off campus users will see a page that asks them to choose between access for Chemeketa registered students and employees, and access for those who have been given other credentials.
Chemeketa students and employees will then be able to use the College's single-sign on to give them access to our ebooks, streaming videos, articles, and other resources. If you do notice any issues with access to resources, please email the reference librarians or call 503.399.5231.
The only change will be that URLs saved with the old proxy prefix (proxy.chemeketa.edu ...) will not work. Anyone who has saved persistent links to e-resources will have to change links to use the new proxy prefix: https://chemeketa.idm.oclc.org/login?url=. If you have saved links and have questions or need help making the transition, please email the reference librarians or call 503.399.5231.
We anticipate that this change will result in fewer problems with linking as vendors change their technology, and less downtime.
