WR115 Kaspari: Finding Definitions and Etymology

What is etymology?

To begin, go to Britannica Online dictionary via the Library Home Page.

Look up Etymology. While you are in Britannica, look up one of the words on your list of vocab terms and look for the area of the definition marked etymology.

Next, go to Oxford English Dictionary (OED)  and look up Etymology. After we explore the interface, look up your vocab word. 


 

Finding Britannica Online from the Library Home Page

1. Start at the Library Home Page

2. Click on Articles and More, Database Pages on the right:

3. Click on 'B' and choose Britannica Online (if needed, enter your MyChemeketa username and password)

4. Enter your search term 

5. On the left, click on Dictionary

Finding Oxford English Dictionary from the Library Home Page

1. Start at the Library Home Page

2. Click on Articles and More, Database Pages on the right:

3. Click on 'O' and choose Oxford English Dictionary (if needed, enter your MyChemeketa username and password)

4. Enter your search term
